John Jones, III 

Board of Directors

John Jones III is on staff with BOSS (Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency) where he serves as the Director of Violence Interruption and Prevention Programs.. In that role, he serves to address and remedy the root causes of both system and community/interpersonal violence.

John was born and raised in East Oakland and a father of three. Being formerly incarcerated, John fights to end the marginalization of those who have been harmed by the criminal justice system by demonstrating that transformation is possible while also seeking accountability and transparency from the government.

As a result of his hard work and fearless dedication, John has received numerous accolades including being named as one of the 2016 Best of the East Bay as a Dynamo for Justice by the East Bay Express; proclaimed as a 2016 Equity Champion in a Resolution awarded by CA 18th District Assembly Member Rob Bonta; honored by the Oakland City Council twice for Black History Month Achievements as well as by the City of Emeryville for second Chance Month 2018.
